"Get your round of 16 tickets."
The 2025 Hana Bank Korea Cup round 3 matches will take place on the 16th at 12 stadiums. A total of 24 teams will compete in round 3. Along with the 16 teams that won in the previous round, 8 teams from K League 1 will join to start the race for the Korea Cup championship. They include Daejeon Hana Citizen, Jeonbuk Hyundai, FC Anyang, Daegu FC, Suwon FC, Gwangju FC, Jeju SK, and Gimcheon Sangmu.
The rivalry between K League 1 and K League 2 teams has begun. Jeonbuk Hyundai will face Ansan Greeners (K League 2) at their home stadium, Jeonju World Cup Stadium. Gimcheon Sangmu will take on Suwon Samsung (K League 2) at home. The winners of round 3 will advance to the round of 16.
Particularly, the match between Bucheon FC (K League 2) and Jeju SK (K League 1) is drawing significant attention. It will be held at Bucheon Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. on the 16th. This match is the first encounter between the two teams since they were both in K League 2 in the 2020 season. Although they played three matches that year, they were held without spectators due to COVID-19; thus, this is the first time they will meet in front of an audience.
This is because they have never met in the Korea Cup, including its predecessor, the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, interest is growing regarding whether teams from the lower leagues, K3 and K4, can continue their insurgency amid the full-scale participation of professional teams. In the previous round, lower league teams won against upper league teams in 7 out of 16 matches.
Bucheon Transportation Corporation (K3), which defeated Busan IPark (K League 2) in the round 2 "Busan Derby," will face Suwon FC (K League 1) at home. Pyeongchang United (K4), which triumphed over Gyeongnam FC (K League 2) with a score of 3-0, will compete against Incheon United (K League 2) for a round of 16 ticket.
Sejong SA Football Club (K4), which advanced to round 3 by defeating Jeonnam Dragons 3-1, will host FC Anyang (K League 1).
