Police conducted a search of related institutions regarding the structure collapse accident that occurred last month at Changwon NC Park.
According to the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, searches were carried out from the morning of the 11th at three locations: Changwon City, the Changwon Facility Corporation, and Changwon NC Park.
The police searched two departments: the Changwon City Safety Overall Management Office and the Sports Promotion Division, and it is known that they were verifying documents related to facility safety, such as regular risk assessments.
This is due to the structure collapse accident that occurred on the 29th at Changwon NC Park. The accident happened while an LG and NC game was in progress when an aluminum cladding material louver (2.6m long, 40cm wide, weighing 60kg) installed on the 4th floor exterior wall hit the roof of a food store on the 1st floor and then fell onto the audience. One woman in her 20s, who sustained a head injury, underwent surgery and was transferred to the intensive care unit but died. Her teenage sister, who was related to the victim, suffered a clavicle fracture.
Subsequently, Changwon NC Park initiated an urgent safety inspection. The game scheduled for the following day, the 30th, was canceled, and the games against SSG planned for the 1st to the 3rd were also canceled due to safety inspection considerations. Following that, NC played a three-game series against the Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok and a three-game series against the KT Wiz in Suwon.
Changwon City, the facility corporation, and NC are discussing several items, including the establishment of a joint task force for preventing recurrence and supporting bereaved families, reviewing the status of the implementation of urgent safety measures, reopening Changwon NC Park, and restoring fan trust. For now, three louver cladding materials that were problematic during the safety inspection period have been removed.
The police recently conducted a joint forensic investigation with the National Forensic Service regarding this structure collapse accident and are reviewing the application of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
