Professional baseball player William Cuevas of the KT Wiz reported his first victory after three challenges and four attempts.

Cuevas made his first start of the season against the Samsung Lions on the 11th at the Suwon KT Wiz Park. Until this game, Cuevas had recorded no wins in three games with one loss (earned run average of 3.86). He showcased an impressive performance against the Samsung lineup, pitching six innings with two hits allowed (one home run), three walks, four strikeouts, and one earned run.

In the first inning, Cuevas handled Lee Jae-hyun, Kim Sung-yoon, and Gu Ja-wook all as outs. In the second inning, he allowed a single to lead-off hitter Lewin Diaz, but he induced Kim Young-woong into a double play and retired Park Byung-ho with a flyout to second base. In the third inning, after one out, Cuevas found himself in a bind with one out and runners on second base due to a walk to Ryu Ji-hyeok and a stolen base, but he struck out Lee Byung-hun and Lee Jae-hyun in succession.

In the fourth inning, Cuevas retired Kim Sung-yoon and Gu Ja-wook with flyouts. After two outs, he issued a walk to Diaz after a full count. He ended the inning by getting Kim Young-woong to ground out to second base. In the fifth inning, after one out, he had two runners on base due to a hit by pitch and an error. However, Cuevas remained composed and retired Lee Byung-hun and Lee Jae-hyun with flyouts, continuing his scoreless streak.

In the sixth inning, after one out, Cuevas threw a fastball (143km) on the sixth pitch to Gu Ja-wook, but allowed a solo home run that cleared the center field fence. He then retired Diaz and Kim Young-woong with a flyout and a swinging strikeout, respectively. Cuevas left the mound in the seventh inning with the requirement for his first victory of the season met, leading 5-1.

The KT lineup consisted of right fielder Mel Rojas Jr., third baseman Heo Kyung-min, left fielder Kim Min-hyeok, catcher Jang Seong-woo, designated hitter Kang Baek-ho, second baseman Kim Sang-soo, center fielder Bae Jeong-dae, first baseman Oh Yoon-seok, and shortstop Jang Jun-won.
