The Samsung Lions of professional baseball have removed 'the little giant' Kim Ji-chan (outfielder) from the first team roster.
Samsung made changes to its first team roster ahead of the third game of the season against the SSG Landers at Daegu Samsung Lions Park on the 10th. Outfielder Kim Ji-chan and pitcher Lee Seung-hyun (No. 20) were removed from the roster while pitcher Yang Chang-seob and outfielder Han Soo-ho were called up to the first team.
Kim Ji-chan has appeared in 11 games this season with a batting average of .395 (43 at-bats, 17 hits), 2 RBIs, 13 runs, and 4 stolen bases. He has not participated in games since the 4th against Hanwha due to a left hamstring issue.
Lee Seung-hyun has recorded 1 hold in 6 games this season, but has struggled to meet expectations from the bench, posting an ERA of 11.81.
Meanwhile, Samsung has structured its starting lineup with shortstop Lee Jae-hyun, second baseman Ryu Ji-hyuk, third baseman Kim Young-woong, catcher Kang Min-ho, first baseman Lewin Diaz, left fielder Koo Ja-wook, designated hitter Park Byung-ho, right fielder Kim Heon-gon, and center fielder Kim Sung-yoon. 'The ace of blue blood' Won Tae-in will take the mound as the starting pitcher.
Last year, Won Tae-in emerged with 15 wins, tying for first place in the victories institutional sector alongside Kwak Bin (Doosan). He joined the first team late this season due to damage to the cartilage in his right shoulder joint during the Korean Series against the KIA Tigers.
Won Tae-in has recorded 1 win and no losses with an ERA of 1.50 in two appearances. He achieved 2 earned runs over 5 innings against Doosan on the 29th of last month, followed by a home game against Hanwha on the 4th, where he pitched 7 scoreless innings and struck out 5 to secure his first win of the season.
