Was the eagle this fast on the ground as well? Hanwha Eagles devastated the Doosan mound by successfully stealing 5 bases in one inning.
The professional baseball Hanwha Eagles won 7-2 against the Doosan Bears in the third game of the season held at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on Oct. 10, 2025.
Hanwha, after two consecutive losses, achieved two consecutive wins, finishing the midweek three-game series with a winning series. The season record stands at 6 wins and 10 losses.
The turning point was the top of the sixth inning when the score was 0-0. After one out, Esteban Florial and Moon Hyun-bin hit consecutive singles, putting runners on first and third base, and then executed a double steal, scoring the first run. Taking advantage of catcher Yang Eui-ji's throw to second base, Florial, the runner on third, reached home.
After that, with Noh Si-hwan's walk and Moon Hyun-bin's steal of third base, Noh Si-hwan then stole second base with two outs and runners on second and third, where Kim Tae-yeon hit a two-run RBI single that extended the lead. It was a blow that forced the removal of Doosan starter Jack Log.
Hanwha did not stop. Lee Jin-young hit a single against Lee Young-ha, continuing the first and third base chance, and after first-base runner Lee Won-seok stole second base, Lee Jae-won hit a two-run single to center field.
Hanwha successfully stole 5 bases in just the top of the sixth inning, achieving the 6th instance of 5 stolen bases in one inning in KBO history. The previous record was set by the LG Twins against the Haitai Tigers at Mudeung Baseball Stadium on June 6, 1990. A record for the most stolen bases in a single inning in KBO history was tied after 35 years.
Hanwha starting pitcher Tyler Wiese achieved his first win of the season (1 loss) with a stellar performance, pitching 7⅔ innings, allowing 4 hits (1 home run), no walks, striking out 7 batters, and giving up 2 runs on 94 pitches. Following him were Kim Bum-soo (⅔ inning, no runs) and Kim Jong-soo (⅔ inning, no runs).
The batting lineup unleashed 13 hits against the Doosan mound. Among them, Kim Tae-yeon led the team with 3 hits and 3 RBIs in 4 at-bats, while Moon Hyun-bin contributed with 4 hits and 2 runs in 5 at-bats.
Hanwha manager Kim Kyung-moon said after the game, "Starting pitcher Wiese showed perfect pitching. The bullpen, consisting of Kim Bum-soo and Kim Jong-soo, also did well in blocking the opposing batting lineup. The active baserunning in the sixth inning and concentration after two outs helped us create a big inning of 5 runs and swing the game's momentum, allowing us to ultimately secure the victory."
Hanwha will face the Kiwoom Heroes at home for a weekend three-game series starting on the 11th. The first game is expected to feature a matchup between Ryu Hyun-jin (Hanwha) and Kim Yun-ha (Kiwoom).
