Daejeon Hana Citizen coach Hwang Sun-hong received the first 'flex Manager of the Month' award for the 2025 season.
Under Hwang's leadership, Daejeon recorded 4 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss in 6 matches held in February and March, achieving the most points (13 points) and the highest win rate (75%) among the 12 teams in K League 1 during the same period.
Daejeon started the new season on a positive note with a convincing 3-0 win against Pohang in the first round. However, Daejeon lost 0-2 in the second round against Ulsan, but secured wins with 1-0 against Suwon FC in the third round, 2-1 against Daegu in the fourth round, and 3-1 against Jeju in the fifth round, marking an impressive three consecutive wins. In the sixth round against Gwangju held in the last week of March, Daejeon managed a 1-1 draw, extending their unbeaten streak to four matches and maintaining their lead in K League 1.
In particular, Daejeon scored a total of 10 goals in the 6 matches, the highest in K League 1 during the same period, showcasing their powerful offense with goals coming from a variety of players, including Jumin-kyu, Choi Geon-joo, and Shin Sang-eun.
Recognized for outstanding leadership and guidance, Hwang Sun-hong, who successfully led Daejeon in February and March, received the 'flex K League Manager of the Month' award.
A commemorative trophy and prize money produced by the Korea Professional Football League will be awarded to Hwang Sun-hong.
