The Korea Professional Baseball Kiwoom Heroes broke their three-game losing streak by defeating the LG Twins.
Kiwoom won 4-0 against LG in a game held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 9th.
Starting pitcher Rosenberg's perfect pitching shone through. Rosenberg retired all 15 batters he faced through the 5th inning. Perfect game. The perfect game was broken in the 6th inning after two outs when he allowed a bloop hit to Choi Won-young.
Rosenberg, who pitched without allowing a run while recording 13 Samjin strikeouts through the 8th inning, attempted a complete game in the 9th inning but was replaced after giving up consecutive hits to Shin Min-jae and Austin. Joo Seung-woo came in with no outs and runners on first and second base, finishing the game with three fly outs and earning a save.
Rosenberg's 13 strikeouts tie the record for the most strikeouts in a single game by a foreign pitcher in Kiwoom's history, set last year by Hurado. The franchise record is 14 strikeouts, achieved by Han Hyun-hee against KT on April 10, 2015.
In the batting lineup, Song Seung-moon hit his first career leadoff home run in the 1st inning, followed by solo home runs from Lee Joo-hyung in the 3rd inning and Park Joo-hong in the 4th inning.
Manager Hong Won-ki noted after the game, "Starting pitcher Rosenberg showed perfect pitching as a true ace. He pitched aggressively and intelligently against a strong batting lineup, and his chemistry with catcher Kim Jae-hyun was perfect," adding, "We gained momentum with Song Seung-moon's home run in the 1st inning, and Lee Joo-hyung and Park Joo-hong's home runs helped seal the victory."
Hong also stated, "There were good defensive plays as well. Song Seung-moon in the 2nd inning and Jeon Tae-hyun in the 5th handled difficult ground balls calmly, and Kim Jae-hyun's bunt play in the 7th stood out. In the 8th inning, Puig maintained focused defense even when the momentum could have shifted."
He continued, "I sincerely thank the fans for their great support, which helped us break the losing streak. We will prepare well for tomorrow's game."
