Youth aspiring to become the second Gu Ja-wook and Won Tae-in gathered in one place.
On the 7th, the Dong-gu Sports Council in Daegu announced that it held the '1st Dong-gu Sports Council Youth Baseball Tournament' where 12 youth baseball clubs from the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions competed against each other.
This tournament features a total of 12 youth baseball clubs from the area, with over 200 participants, and the lower grades category includes students from the 1st to 5th grades and the upper grades category includes students from the 5th grade to the 1st grade of middle school, divided into two divisions.
With the opening ceremony held on the 5th at the Bullo River Baseball Stadium in Dong-gu, a total of 30 games will unfold in a league format, starting with the preliminary round between the Palgong Youth Baseball Team and the Sky Baseball Team, and the tournament will embark on a 6-month journey leading to the playoffs and finals in September.
In the matches held on the first day, the Sky Baseball Team, Junstar Baseball Team (B team), and Dreams Baseball Team each secured a victory in the lower grades category, while in the upper grades category, the Palgong Youth Baseball Team and Daebul Bookis Baseball Team each reported their first wins. The Junstar Baseball Team (A team) and Dalseo SC ended in a draw without a win or loss.
Song Dae-ho, president of the Dong-gu Sports Council in Daegu, noted, "Sports policy aims for a balance between elite sports and club sports as two wings of development," and added, "I will spare no support to ensure that this tournament, held in Daegu, the home of baseball, becomes a great opportunity for local youth baseball club players to pursue their dreams."
