Doosan Bears player Oh Myung-jin (24) recorded his first hit in his debut.

On the 2nd, Oh Myung-jin started as the 8th second baseman against the Kiwoom Heroes in the '2025 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League' at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul, recording 4 at-bats, 1 hit, and 1 run.

Oh Myung-jin, who reached base due to an error by the shortstop with one out in the bottom of the second inning, hit a fastball at 144 km/h from Kiwoom's right-handed starting pitcher Yoon Hyun in the fourth inning, where Doosan was trailing 1-3 with one out, earning his first hit in the KBO League. Following this, he advanced to third base on an infield hit by Park Jun-young and a walk by Chu Jae-hyun, and scored on a wild pitch. Doosan achieved a comeback victory, winning 5-3 and breaking a two-game losing streak.

Oh Myung-jin, who was drafted in the second round, 6th pick (59th overall) in the 2020 rookie draft, had not shown significant contributions in the first team until now. His career KBO League statistics stand at 9 games, 8 at-bats, no hits, 1 run batted in, 1 run, and 1 walk. However, in the Futures League, he has shown potential, recording a batting average of .288 with 239 hits in 830 at-bats over 244 games, along with 9 home runs, 101 RBIs, 132 runs, and 23 stolen bases for an OPS of .777.

Oh Myung-jin, who enlisted as an active duty soldier in May 2022 and completed military service, returned to the team in 2024. He recorded a batting average of .318 over 85 games in the Futures League this year, with 88 hits in 277 at-bats, 4 home runs, 43 RBIs, 43 runs, 5 stolen bases, and an OPS of .891, raising expectations. He made a strong impression in this year's exhibition games, solidifying his opportunities, recording a batting average of .400 with 11 hits in 27 at-bats, 5 RBIs, 4 runs, 1 stolen base, and an OPS of 1.023, finishing first in batting average during the exhibition games.

However, once the regular season began, Oh Myung-jin could not maintain the batting form he showed in the exhibition games, remaining silent with 14 consecutive at-bats without a hit. Finally, in this game, he achieved his first hit of his debut. He is currently recording a batting average of .059 over 5 games with 1 hit in 17 at-bats, 1 run, and an OPS of .170.

After hitting his first debut hit, Oh Myung-jin said in a post-game interview, "I'm astonished and can't believe it. I'm truly grateful to the manager and coaches who waited for me despite my lack of performance."

"Even though I wasn't able to get hits, many fans sent messages of support and encouragement," Oh Myung-jin said. "Thanks to that, I think my first hit came out. This is just the beginning. I want to run harder and show an even better performance."
