'Son of the Wind' Lee Jeong-hu (San Francisco Giants) joined the donation campaign for recovery from the Yeongnam wildfires.

The Korean Red Cross said on the 1st that Lee Jeong-hu, a Korean batter for the San Francisco Giants, donated 10 million won to support recovery efforts from the recent wildfire damage.

The large-scale wildfires that occurred in early March across various regions, including Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, Ulsan, and Jeonbuk, have devastated the lives of countless residents, causing significant hardship for disaster victims due to the destruction of forests and homes. In light of this, Lee Jeong-hu decided to make this donation to help the affected residents.

Lee Jeong-hu noted, “I felt heavy-hearted upon hearing that many areas were affected by the wildfires. I decided to contribute, even if just a little, to help.”

He continued, “I sincerely hope that those affected can quickly return to their daily lives and smile again.”

Chairman Kim Cheol-soo of the Korean Red Cross said, “Lee Jeong-hu's warm heart will be a great comfort and strength to the disaster victims. We will quickly deliver the donation to where it is needed.”

Lee Jeong-hu has also gained attention for his consistent charitable activities. He previously provided scholarships for local children's baseball dreams in 2024, and this donation once again demonstrates his commitment to social responsibility.

Meanwhile, on the 1st (Korea time), Lee Jeong-hu started as the No. 3 center fielder in the first game of the three-game interleague series against the Houston Astros at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas, contributing to the team's 7-2 victory and second consecutive win with 1 hit in 4 at-bats, 1 walk, and 2 runs scored.
