The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association (Chairman Song Pil-ho) announced on the 28th that KIA Tigers infielder Kim Do-young donated 10 million won to help neighbors affected by the forest fire.
Kim Do-young said, "I felt heavy-hearted upon hearing the news of the forest fire damage," and added, "I decided to donate in hopes that it would be of some help to those who were affected and are working hard on site. I hope the forest fire is extinguished as soon as possible and that everyone can return to their normal lives."
The donation will be used for emergency support for residents in areas affected by the forest fire, relief materials support, and operation of temporary shelters.
Shin Hoon, the secretary-general of Hope Bridge, said, "I deeply appreciate the warm sharing of player Kim Do-young, the MVP of last year's professional baseball and a star of the Tigers," and noted, "I hope this donation leads to participation from baseball fans, becoming a greater force for affected neighbors and connecting to practical help."
Meanwhile, Hope Bridge is currently providing over 420,000 relief supplies, including relief kits, shelter partitions, blankets, daily necessities, bottled water, and food items to areas affected by the forest fire, and various on-site relief activities, including laundry support at shelters, are ongoing. Additionally, meal support for firefighters and field response teams deployed on site is also in progress.
