CPBL Stats, which reports on CPBL news, stated on official social media on the 5th, "According to Liberty Sports, Chinatrust Brothers terminated the contract of foreign pitcher Daniel Mengden after he tested positive in a routine drug test."
It was added, "Mengden received a permanent expulsion from CPBL due to a violation of banned substance use. Marijuana is classified as a Class 2 drug in Taiwan."
Mengden, who played for KIA in 2021, appeared in 21 games, recording 8 wins, 3 losses, and an earned run average of 3.60. He performed well in 5 games in October, achieving 3 wins and no losses with an ERA of 1.76, but failed to secure a new contract.
