A Chinese athlete who won the bronze medal in the short track 5000m relay reportedly shouted "dirty" while leaving the venue. Chinese media noted that this was an expression of dissatisfaction with the actions of the Korean athletes.
According to Sinasports and others on the 10th, after the men's 5000m relay final of the '2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games Short Track' held at the Heilongjiang Ice Training Center in Harbin, China, Chinese team member Sun Long shouted, "Dirty! Just dirty!" while exiting the mixed zone.
On that day, the Chinese team won the bronze medal. Lin Xiaojun (Korean name Lim Hyo-jun), who surged inward on the last curve, used his hands, and Park Ji-won collided with Kazakhstan's athlete Run Shaojin, who was following closely behind, causing a fall.
Korea crossed the finish line in second place; however, the judges, after video review, disqualified Korea for Park Ji-won obstructing Lin Xiaojun's run. China finished in fourth, behind Japan, but claimed the bronze medal due to Korea's disqualification.
In China, a sentiment emerged that "China won the bronze medal because of Korean fouls." Local media interpreted Sun Long's shout as pointing out the fouls of the Korean athletes.
Earlier, in the 1000m final, Sun Long fell alone during a tussle with Korean representative Park Ji-won. Consequently, Jang Seong-woo and Park Ji-won secured the gold and silver medals, respectively, and this seems to have expressed some discomfort.
After the short track schedule for this tournament concluded, Sun Long expressed on his Weibo, "I thank everyone I should be grateful to. I also appreciate the valuable experience provided by the opposing team," seemingly targeting Korea.
Sun Long is actually facing allegations of helping Lin Xiaojun during this tournament. In the men's short track 500m final on the 8th, Sun Long pushed Lin Xiaojun's backside from behind while they were vying for the lead, which helped Run Shaojin overtake Park Ji-won.
According to the International Skating Union (ISU) regulations, short track athletes are not allowed to receive pushing assistance from teammates during the competition. Despite the allegations of pushing assistance, the judges did not take any particular action, and eventually, Lin Xiaojun secured the gold medal in the 500m event.
Chinese media even reported that Sun Long "helped" Lin Xiaojun. China Central Television (CCTV) commented that "Sun Long helped Lin Xiaojun save energy" and evaluated it by saying, "This is 'Team China.'"
