As controversy arose over the inadequate initial response by the police regarding the self-made firearm murder case that occurred in Songdo, Incheon, the Korean National Police Agency has begun an investigation.
The Korean National Police Agency's inspection office stated on the 26th, "We have initiated a fact-finding investigation related to the self-made firearm incident that occurred in Incheon." The police plan to confirm whether there were deficiencies in the initial response at the scene.
Earlier, on the 20th, a case occurred in an apartment in Songdo International City, Yeonsu District, Incheon, where A (62) shot and killed his son B (33) with a self-made firearm. B was transported to the hospital after being shot in the chest but died. After the crime, A fled, but he was urgently apprehended by the police in Seocho District, Seoul, early on the 21st.
During this process, the victim's family reported to the police around 9:31 p.m., and police officers from the precinct arrived at the apartment entrance in about 10 minutes. However, judging that an armed suspect might still be at the scene, the police did not immediately enter.
Ultimately, the police entered the crime scene only after the police special forces arrived at 10:43 p.m. However, it was reported that in the meantime, the suspect had already left the scene using the elevator, leading to criticism that the initial response was inadequate.
