On Saturday, the 26th, the temperature in Seoul rose to 38 degrees, continuing a record heat wave in most parts of the country. The heat is expected to persist on Sunday.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a heat wave warning is currently in effect for most areas nationwide, and the maximum perceived temperature is forecasted to reach around 35 degrees for the time being.
The expected maximum temperature nationwide is 32 to 38 degrees, which is higher than the average (27.5 to 32.1 degrees). The anticipated maximum daytime temperatures for the day are forecasted to be 38 degrees in Seoul, 37 degrees in Daejeon, 36 degrees in Gwangju and Jeonju, 35 degrees in Gangneung, Wonju, and Daegu, 32 degrees in Busan, and 31 degrees in Jeju.
The weather will be generally clear, though there will be occasional clouds in the Gyeongnam region. Jeju Island is expected to experience cloudy weather with a chance of rain in various areas starting in the afternoon. The anticipated rainfall is 20 to 60mm in the mountainous areas of Jeju and 5 to 20mm in other regions.
Meanwhile, there are rough waves at sea. A wind advisory has been issued for the seas around Jeju Island, the southern part of the Yellow Sea, and the eastern part of the South Sea, and caution is advised for coastal safety incidents due to high waves and swells along the coast of Jeju Island, Jeonnam, and Gyeongnam.
The expected wave height is 0.5 to 2.0m in the Yellow Sea nearshore, 0.5 to 3.5m in the inner and outer Yellow Sea, 0.5 to 2.0m in the South Sea nearshore, 1.0 to 3.0m in the inner South Sea, 2.0 to 4.0m in the outer South Sea, and 0.5 to 1.5m throughout the East Sea.
On Sunday, the 27th, the expected maximum temperature is projected to be 32 to 37 degrees, continuing the heat wave. The Gyeongnam region will see occasional clouds, while Jeju Island will be mostly cloudy with some rain.
