By region, the death toll is 10 in Sancheong, 2 in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, 2 in Seosan, Chungnam, and 1 each in Osan, Pocheon, Dangjin, and Buk-gu, Gwangju. The missing persons are 4 each in Gapyeong and Sancheong, and 1 in Buk-gu, Gwangju. As rescue operations are ongoing, the number of casualties may increase.
Due to this heavy rain, 14,166 people from 9,887 households have evacuated across 15 cities and provinces nationwide. As of 9 p.m. the previous day, 2,653 people from 1,404 households in 12 cities and provinces still had not returned home. The largest numbers of evacuees still unable to return are from Gyeongnam with 929, Gyeonggi Province with 860, and Chungnam with 658.
As of 6 p.m. the previous day, the damage to public facilities, including road flooding, soil erosion, and the collapse of river facilities, amounts to 1,999 cases. Damage to private properties, including building flooding and agricultural land flooding, is 2,238 cases.
The Korea Meteorological Administration declared the end of the monsoon, stating that the North Pacific High has moved northward, causing the stationary front to lift. However, heavy showers will again hit the already rain-soaked southern regions on this day.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, showers are expected in various places in Jeonnam and Gyeongnam, as well as Jeju Island on this day. In the morning, showers are likely in North Jeolla and North Gyeongsang, and in the afternoon, there will be areas of showers in inland Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon inland and mountainous regions, and Chungcheong Province.
In particular, very strong showers of 30 to 50 mm per hour are expected primarily in the southern regions. The anticipated rainfall from showers on this day is 5 to 60 mm in inland Seoul, inland and mountainous regions of Gangwon, Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, Chungbuk, and Daegu, Gyeongbuk.
