The mediation of the damage compensation lawsuit filed by Big Hit Music, the entertainment agency, and BTS members V (real name Kim Tae-hyung, 29) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung-kook, 27) against individual A, the operator of the YouTube channel "탈덕수용소," was deemed unconstituted on the 21st.
The Seoul Western District Court's 1st mediation session held today was in regard to the appeal of the damage compensation lawsuit filed by V, Jungkook, and their agency Big Hit Music against individual A in March of last year. However, as no agreement was reached, the result of non-constitution was announced, and the existing appeal trial is expected to resume.
V, Jungkook, and their agency filed a lawsuit in March last year, claiming 90 million won in damages against individual A, stating that their reputation was harmed due to videos posted on 탈덕수용소.
On Feb. 14, the Seoul Western District Court's 1st instance ruled that individual A should pay 51 million won to the agency, 10 million won to V, and 15 million won to Jungkook, along with delayed interest. However, both sides appealed the ruling.
The YouTube channel 탈덕수용소 has been posting videos containing defamatory content about several K-pop idols, including BTS. In 2023, there was a partial victory ruling for plaintiff Jang Won-young, a member of the girl group IVE, against individual A in the second trial of her damage compensation suit.
