It was reported on the 18th that the Special Prosecutor's Office investigating the deceased Marine is searching the home and office of Representative Lee Cheol-kyu of the People Power Party.
A Special Prosecutor's Office official said, "Since the morning, we have been sending investigators to four locations, including Lee Cheol-kyu's offices in Seoul and his constituency, as well as his home, to secure materials."
The Special Prosecutor's Office is reportedly conducting the search to investigate allegations of "rescue lobbying" concerning former Marine Corps Division Commander Lim Seong-geun.
Former Division Commander Lim is facing charges of having ordered a reckless search that led to the death of Sergeant Chae during the 2023 incident. Consequently, the Special Prosecutor's Office is also searching the home of former Marine Corps Division Commander Lim Seong-geun this morning.
