Overnight on the 17th, heavy rain exceeding 100 mm per hour fell in the coastal area of South Chungcheong Province, leading to damage such as the suspension of railways and highways.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, 114.9 mm of rain, expected to occur once every 100 years, fell in Seosan last night. Not only in Seosan but across South Chungcheong Province, heavy rain has caused confusion in various places.
The Korea Expressway Corporation announced that traffic has been blocked on the section from Haemi Interchange to Seosan Interchange on the West Coast Expressway. KORAIL also temporarily suspended the operation of regular trains between Seoul Station and Daejeon Station from 4:30 a.m. on that day. Operations of regular trains between Cheonan Station and Iksan Station on the Janghang Line and between Hongseong Station and Seohwa Station on the West Coast Line have also been halted. However, KTX continues to operate on all routes.
The Line 1 electric train will be temporarily suspended between Pyeongtaek Station and Sinchang Station. Trains between Yeoncheon and Pyeongtaek Station are running normally.
