Heavy rain fell in Seoul last night, causing the lower road under Jeongsan Bridge in Seodaemun District to be closed.
The Seoul Traffic Information Center TOPIS announced that as of 6:53 a.m. that day, the lower road under Jeongsan Bridge was closed in both directions due to rain and advised to take a detour.
According to the city of Seoul, a flooding alert was issued for Seongbuk District at 6:43 a.m. that day, prompting the dispatch of the accompanying partner. The accompanying partner helps evacuate and escape vulnerable households such as semi-basement houses.
In Seoul, since 5 p.m. the day before, 29 rivers, including Cheonggyecheon Stream and Anyangcheon Stream, have been closed due to a heavy rain warning. The city plans to partially operate 36 rainwater pumping stations and strengthen monitoring and situation management for weather and rivers.
Overnight, there were 36 fire activities, including 23 drainage support actions and 13 safety measures for street trees and walls. No damage from the heavy rain has been identified.
The city of Seoul has secured rainwater containers that can store 641,234 tons of rainwater in 12 lakes and ponds, including Seoul Grand Park, in preparation for heavy rain.
