On the 17th, heavy rains exceeding 40mm per hour fell in Cheongdo, North Gyeongsang Province, where a landslide occurred, reportedly burying some dwellings.
According to the police, a landslide report was received in the vicinity of Gumi-ri, Cheongdo-eup, North Gyeongsang Province, and Cheongdo County is currently assessing the extent of damage. The police noted, "It is determined that soil has covered one dwelling."
A heavy rain warning has been issued for Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province, including Cheongdo and Seongju.
According to the Daegu Meteorological Agency, the cumulative rainfall in Cheongdo reached 115mm by 2 p.m. on that day. In the afternoon, heavy rain of 45.5mm per hour was also recorded. In addition to Cheongdo, significant amounts of rain fell in other parts of North Gyeongsang Province, including ▲Sangju 78.5mm ▲Mungyeong (Maseong) 72.5mm ▲Goryeong 70.5mm ▲Chilgok (Palgongsan) 54.5mm ▲Yeongju (Isan) 54mm. In Daegu, Dong-gu Hyomok-dong recorded 27.4mm of rain. In Dalseong County (Okpo), 75mm of rain was recorded.
Landslide warnings are in effect for Mungyeong and Sangju in North Gyeongsang Province. However, each municipality reported that no damage has been confirmed so far. North Daegu has restricted access to Palgeo Stream and Donghwa Stream, while South Daegu has closed access to the Sincheon promenade. Heavy rain advisories have been issued for North Gyeongsang Province including Gumi, Yeongcheon, Gyeongsan, Goryeong, Chilgok, Gimcheon, Sangju, Mungyeong, Yecheon, Andong, Yeongju, Uiseong, Pohang, and Gyeongju.
A heavy rain warning is issued when rainfall is expected to exceed 90mm in 3 hours or 180mm in 12 hours, while a heavy rain advisory is issued when rainfall is expected to exceed 60mm in 3 hours or 110mm in 12 hours.
