The special counsel investigating Kim Keon-hee announced that it is conducting a search and seizure at the Ganjin Beopsa temple and other locations on the morning of the 15th.
The special counsel noted during a press briefing around 3 p.m. that it is conducting search and seizure at about 10 locations, including the Ganjin Beopsa temple and a residence.
The special counsel is reportedly looking into allegations that Jeon had delivered gifts from the Unification Church to Mrs. Kim and made requests for favors to influential figures in the political sector under the guise of prayer fees.
It has been confirmed that Jeon's attorney is also among the targets of the search and seizure. The special counsel stated that it conducted the search because it believed the attorney might have Jeon's mobile phone.
Earlier, investigators captured evidence that Yun, who was the former head of the Unification Church, had delivered a Graf diamond necklace worth 60 million won, two Chanel bags worth 20 million won at the time, and Chansu-sam concentrated tea to Jeon as gifts for Mrs. Kim.
Meanwhile, the special counsel filed a search warrant with the court regarding the Ganjin Beopsa allegations on the 10th, but it was rejected. It appears that the special counsel subsequently refiled the warrant for the search and seizure on that day.
