Minister Kang Sun-woo, the candidate for the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, on the 14th addressed allegations of abuse regarding herself, saying, "The media reports are exaggerated in some parts" and "The content reported by the media is the story of a third party, not the party involved."
On the same day, during a hearing of the Gender Equality and Family Committee at the National Assembly, when Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Jang Cheol-min asked, "If there are parts that were lacking in the morning hearing, please let me know," Kang responded, saying, "I will talk about the bidet that was reported in the media."
Earlier, there were media reports that Kang instructed her aide to look into a problem with the toilet.
In this regard, Kang stated, "Looking back, that morning there was a flood in the bathroom, and I saw that water was spraying out from the bidet nozzle," adding, "I was asking for advice from the regional aide in the regional office, not the aide who was in the National Assembly member's building in Yeouido, on what to do."
She continued, "The situation was urgent, so I asked the aide for advice and requested help, and I didn’t think that could be viewed as an unreasonable work order. It’s because I am lacking. I was entirely thoughtless."
Kang stated, "I did not give such instructions to the aides in the National Assembly member's building in Yeouido" and added, "I replaced the relevant parts through the relevant company."
When Jang remarked that "the part regarding the company repair was misrepresented," Kang replied, "I asked the aides at that time what would be good because I had not been in the local area for long," and added, "It was about seeking advice from the regional aide, not the aides in Yeouido."
