Former President Yoon Suk-yeol declined to appear for the second summons investigation of the rebellion special investigation team on the 14th. Previously, after being arrested on the 10th, Former President Yoon also did not respond to the first summons investigation requested by the special investigation team on the 11th.
On this day, Former President Yoon's legal representatives stated, “We submitted a reason for non-attendance from the previous time regarding our presence today, and there has been no change in circumstances.” They added, “We did not submit a new reason for non-attendance today.”
Earlier, the rebellion special investigation team demanded that Former President Yoon appear for questioning at 2 p.m. on the 11th, just one day after he was imprisoned in Seoul Detention Center on charges of abuse of power, forging public documents, and hindering the execution of public duties. However, Former President Yoon submitted a reason for non-attendance citing 'health reasons' and did not respond to the investigation.
In response, the special investigation team requested materials related to Former President Yoon's health status from the Seoul Detention Center and, assessing that there were no issues with the summons investigation, again demanded his presence at 2 p.m. on that day. However, Former President Yoon once again declined to attend.
The special investigation team is reportedly considering options for compulsory summons should Former President Yoon continue to refuse the summons. Park Ji-young, the deputy of the rebellion special investigation team, noted during a press briefing on the 11th that they are principled in seeking the summons investigation of Former President Yoon and do not plan to visit the detention center.
