The Special Counsel for Kim Keon-hee announced on the 14th that it had notified Kakao founder Kim Beom-su, Future Initiative Center head Cho Hyun-sang of HS HYOSUNG, former DaouKiwoom Group chairman Kim Ik-rae, and former Korea Securities Finance Corporation president Yoon Chang-ho to appear for questioning at 10 a.m. on the 17th. They have reportedly been summoned as witnesses.
On that day, the Special Counsel stated in a notice sent to reporters, "We have sent summons notifications to four individuals regarding the so-called 'Housekeeper Gate'."
The Special Counsel is investigating a gate related to Kim Ye-seong, who is considered to have acted as the housekeeper for Kim Keon-hee, wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, and her mother, Choi Eun-soon. In 2023, corporations and financial institutions invested 18.4 billion won into the deficit rental car company IMS Mobility (formerly Be My Car), which Kim managed.
At that time, these corporations faced legal risks, including investigations by the prosecution. Allegations have been raised that they expected Kim Ye-seong to resolve these risks by leveraging his connection with Kim Keon-hee to secure their investments. Kim's company was also listed as an investor in the exhibition planning firm Covana Contents, which is operated by Kim Keon-hee.
Kim Ye-seong reportedly became acquainted with Kim Keon-hee while attending the Business School at Seoul National University in 2010. He served as an auditor at Covana Contents from 2012 to 2015. He is the individual who created a false balance certificate submitted to financial institutions when Kim Keon-hee's mother, Choi Eun-soon, purchased real estate under a borrowed name in 2013. He was prosecuted for this case and received a sentence of six months in prison, with a two-year probation.
