On Monday, the 14th, rain is expected across the country, bringing an end to the heat wave that has persisted for more than two weeks.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 13th, the national weather will generally be cloudy due to the influence of rain clouds. In Gangwon Province, Chungbuk, eastern Jeolla, and the Gyeongsang region, there may be rain with some places experiencing a lull. The metropolitan area, Chungnam, and the Jeolla region excluding the eastern part, along with Jeju Island, are forecasted to experience rain from morning until nighttime. In the metropolitan area, less than 0.1 mm of rainfall is expected from early morning to morning.
From this day until the 15th, 50 to 100 mm of rain is forecasted for Jeonnam as well as Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam and the eastern and northeastern mountain areas of Gyeongbuk, except for the northwest. In addition, 30 to 80 mm of rain is expected in the eastern and southern parts of Gangwon, Jeonbuk, northwestern Gwangju and Jeonnam, inland Daegu and Gyeongbuk, Ulleungdo, Dokdo, and Jeju Island.
In particular, maximum rainfall of 150 mm is expected in Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, and the eastern coast and northeastern mountains of Gyeongbuk, while areas in southern Gangwon, inland Daegu, Gyeongbuk, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo are forecasted to receive up to 120 mm. The central and northern parts of Gangwon's eastern region are expected to see more than 100 mm of rain.
The expected precipitation amounts are 20 to 60 mm for southern Gyeonggi and some parts of Chungcheong, over 80 mm for southeastern Daejeon and Chungnam as well as Chungbuk, and 10 to 40 mm for central and northern Gangwon. During the two days from the 14th to the 15th, 10 to 40 mm of rain is expected in Seoul, Incheon, and northwest Gyeonggi, while the five islets of the Yellow Sea will see 5 to 20 mm of rain.
Until early morning, the southern coast and eastern inland of Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, as well as the eastern coast and northeastern mountain areas of Gyeongbuk, could see rainfall rates of 50 to 70 mm per hour, while inland Daegu and Gyeongbuk may see 30 to 50 mm. In southern Gangwon, heavy rain of 30 to 50 mm per hour is anticipated in the early morning.
The morning low temperatures are expected to be between 20 and 23 degrees Celsius, while the daytime highs will range from 24 to 31 degrees, similar to the average for this time of year. The concentration of fine dust will be at a 'good' to 'moderate' level nationwide due to smooth atmospheric diffusion and rainfall.
Wave heights are forecasted to be 1 to 4 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 2 meters in the South Sea. In the offshore waters (approximately 200 km off the coastline), wave heights are predicted to be 1.5 to 4 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 2 meters in the West Sea, and 1 to 3.5 meters in the South Sea.
Meanwhile, the Forest Service raised the landslide warning level to 'caution' for 14 cities and provinces, excluding Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi, starting from 6 p.m. on this day. The regions of Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi maintained the 'interest' level. Residents in areas affected by forest fires or near forests must move to designated shelters should there be an evacuation order from the Forest Service.
