According to Jongno Academy on the 13th, the number of students entering Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University from the high school equivalency exam for the 2025 academic year is 259. This is a 37% increase from 189 in the 2024 academic year.

This appears to be because the number of test takers from the high school equivalency exam is increasing. Last year, 20,109 students from the high school equivalency exam took the college entrance exam, the highest since 1995. It has been noted that students who judged the school grades to be unfavorable compared to the college entrance exam are dropping out of high school to focus on preparation for the college entrance exam.
