President Lee Jae-myung appointed Kang Yoon-jin as the new Vice Minister of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs on the 13th. Vice Minister Kang previously served as the first female secretary and Director General at the predecessor of the ministry.
Vice Minister Kang, born in 1970, is from Buyeo, Chungnam Province. After graduating from Changdeok Girls' High School and the Department of Food and Nutrition at Myongji University, she earned a master's degree in public administration from Seoul National University and another master's degree in public administration from the University of Illinois.
After passing the 42nd civil service examination, Vice Minister Kang served as the head of the Daegu Veterans Affairs Office, Director General for Policy Planning, and Veterans Policy Director at the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. She is particularly regarded as a symbolic figure who was the first woman to rise consecutively to the positions of secretary and Director General within the ministry.
