A man in his 30s, who murdered his entire family including his parents and brother in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, was arrested on the 13th.
Judge Oh Seung-hee of the Bucheon branch of the Incheon District Court conducted a pre-arrest examination of the suspect, a man identified as A (36), who is facing charges of murder and homicide of a lineal ascendant, on the afternoon of that day. Subsequently, Judge Oh issued a warrant, citing concerns of flight risk.
A, who appeared in court for the warrant examination that day, did not respond to reporters' questions such as, 'Why did you kill your parents?', 'Did your brother often scold you?', and 'What kind of issues were there?'.
A is accused of killing a total of three people, including his parents in their 60s to 70s and his brother in his 30s, with a weapon at a single-family home in Haseong-myeon, Gimpo, on the 10th. A's crime was revealed when a family friend discovered bloodstains at the front door and reported it to the police and fire department.
Police who arrived at the scene urgently arrested A, who was sleeping in the house, around 11 a.m. on the 11th, the day after the incident occurred. A's father and brother were found in a room, while his mother was discovered in a state of rigor mortis in the kitchen. A was investigated for committing the crime with a weapon inside the house.
After his arrest, A reportedly made statements during his initial police questioning suggesting that there had been family discord and that his brother had reprimanded him. It was determined that he had not received hospital treatment for any past illnesses.
The National Forensic Service conducted autopsies on the three victims. As a result, the preliminary verbal opinion stating that they died from injuries caused by a weapon was conveyed to the police.
