President Lee Jae-myung was not charged in relation to an incident involving allegations of intimidation. The President had told Choi Sang-mok, who was then acting president, to "be careful" in March, a statement that had posed a problem.
The Jongno Police Station in Seoul announced on the 11th that it had decided not to prosecute all eight cases in which the President was reported for intimidation and coercion on the 29th of last month, and that one complaint filed together was concluded at the pre-investigation stage.
On March 19, the President said during a Supreme Council meeting held at the Democratic Party of Korea's tent in Gwanghwamun, "From this moment, Acting Premier Choi can arrest any citizen for neglect of duty, so I hope you are careful." This was meant to imply that Acting Premier Choi, who had not appointed Constitutional Court justice nominee Ma Eun-hyeok, was engaging in serious neglect of duty by failing to fulfill constitutional obligations.
In relation to this, the People Power Party, former Gangseo District Mayor Kim Tae-woo, officials from the Liberty Unification Party, and the Garosero Research Institute filed a report against the President on charges of intimidation and other allegations.
The police decided not to forward the case to the prosecution, stating that it was difficult to see the President's remarks as having "been indicated to harm the victim."
