A man in his 30s, who allegedly killed three family members, including his parents and older brother, in Gimpo, was arrested by the police.
The Gimpo Police Station stated on the 11th that they apprehended individual A on charges of murder and homicide and are investigating him.
According to the police, A is suspected of stabbing and killing three people, including his parents in their 60s and 70s, and his older brother in a standalone house in the Hasung-myeon area of Gimpo the previous morning. Around 10:54 a.m., a friend of the victims reported, "There is blood on the front of the house," and the police immediately dispatched to the scene, where they urgently arrested A, who was sleeping in a room. The reporter is said to be a co-worker of A's mother.
When the police arrived, A's father and older brother were found dead inside the room, while his mother was discovered lifeless in the kitchen. All showed signs of rigor mortis. Weapons presumed to have been used in the crime and bloodstains were also reportedly found.
The police stated, "The time of the crime is estimated to have been the previous morning," adding, "We plan to request an autopsy for the victims from the National Forensic Service and apply for an arrest warrant for A."
During police questioning, A is reported to have stated that there had been a dispute with his family. The police believe that A committed the crime following a disagreement with his brother and are investigating the specific circumstances of the incident.
According to the police, A lived with his family and reportedly had little interaction with neighbors. The village mayor remarked, "They were a family that lived quietly in a remote area," adding, "Residents are anxious and the atmosphere is tense due to this serious incident."
