The Special Investigation Team announced that it demanded former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who was arrested on the 10th, to appear at the special investigation team at 2 p.m. on the 11th for questioning. If this investigation occurs, it will be the first investigation of former President Yoon since being arrested by the special investigation team.
Former President Yoon was arrested around 2 a.m. on that day on charges of abuse of power, fabrication of false official documents, and obstruction of special public duties. Earlier, the special investigation team requested a warrant for his arrest on the 6th, and on the morning of the same day, Director General Nam Se-jin of the Seoul Central District Court issued the warrant, stating that there was a concern of evidence destruction.
Former President Yoon had previously refused to appear before the investigative authorities when he was first arrested in relation to the 12·3 emergency martial law. On the day of the arrest, the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) received a warrant to detain him and investigated him; however, former President Yoon exercised his right to remain silent. The CIO subsequently requested several times for former President Yoon to appear and be investigated, but he did not comply.
After the CIO obtained the arrest warrant, former President Yoon continued to refuse questioning. Consequently, the CIO attempted to forcibly detain former President Yoon by visiting the Seoul Detention Center and even sought to conduct an on-site investigation at the detention center, but this too could not be accomplished due to former President Yoon's refusal.
