A tropical night has occurred for the tenth day in Seoul. On the 9th, the daytime high in Seoul reached up to 36 degrees, and there are forecasts for rain in the afternoon in the metropolitan area.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the overnight low temperature in Seoul recorded 27 degrees from 6 p.m. the previous day until 7 a.m. that day. Starting at 8 a.m., the temperature rose to 29 degrees, making it the 10th consecutive day with overnight low temperatures exceeding 25 degrees. Overnight temperatures above 25 degrees are recorded as tropical nights.
Outside Seoul, tropical nights also occurred in Incheon (27.5 degrees) and Suwon (26 degrees). In the Chungcheong region, the overnight low temperatures exceeded 25 degrees in Cheongju (28.3 degrees), Daejeon (26.7 degrees), Sejong (26.1 degrees), Boryung (26 degrees), Seosan (25.7 degrees), and Hongseong (25.5 degrees).
In the Jeolla region, tropical nights were recorded in Gunsan (26.5 degrees), Gwangju (26.3 degrees), and Jeonju (26.1 degrees). In the Gyeongsang region, the overnight temperatures in Yangsan (25.5 degrees) and Busan (25.3 degrees) did not drop below 25 degrees.
Seoul is forecasted to reach a temperature of 36 degrees during the day. The previous day's daytime high was close to 38 degrees, marking the hottest weather ever recorded for early July; the heat is expected to continue that day as well. Gwangju and Daejeon are also expected to have daytime highs of up to 36 degrees.
The Korea Meteorological Administration also predicted that there would be showers in Incheon, the western coast of Gyeonggi Province, along the eastern coast of North Gyeongsang Province, and Jeju Island that day.
The Korea Meteorological Administration stated that "the maximum perceived temperature will rise to around 35 degrees in most regions of the country, making it very hot" and noted that "there may be tropical nights occurring mainly in the western regions and Jeju Island for some time."
