The police decided to form a task force (TF) led by Director General Park Sung-joo to eradicate public economic crimes, including the recently highlighted 'no-show fraud.'
The Korean National Police Agency held a 'Core Policy Promotion Direction Report Meeting' on the 8th to discuss crime prevention, maintaining order, and citizen protection measures and made this announcement.
The police stated that they plan to consolidate their investigative capabilities to combat public economic crimes by specifically operating the Integrated Reporting and Response Center for Telecommunications Financial Fraud 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and quickly preparing comprehensive measures, including reinforcement of investigative personnel and concentrated crackdowns.
At the report meeting, the police agreed to expand the recognition that 'keeping order benefits everyone' through various methods such as crackdowns and public service advertisements to improve practices that do not comply with the three basic orders: traffic, public economy, and living order.
They plan to activate a conference chaired by Acting Commissioner Yoo Jae-sung of the Korean National Police Agency to swiftly discuss and decide on major issues threatening public safety.
Prior to the report meeting, in a video conference with police command headquarters nationwide, Acting Commissioner Yoo Jae-sung reminded the chiefs of provincial police agencies and affiliated organizations that 'there should be no threats to public safety due to police negligence or indifference' and emphasized that 'communication with relevant agencies should be activated in the event of crime or accidents, and attention should be given to the challenges faced by on-site staff fulfilling their duties during heat waves.'
