The family assembly for victims of abduction will officially declare a halt to the distribution of anti-North Korea leaflets on the morning of the 8th at Imjingak in Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
The Family Assembly Abducted to North Korea announced that it will hold a joint press conference with the city of Paju around 11 a.m. on the 8th at the outdoor rest area on the second floor of the Hanbok Ecological Peace Comprehensive Tourism Center in Imjingak.
Kim Kyung-il, the mayor of Paju, along with Yoon Hoo-deok, a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea representing Paju Gap, and returnees from abduction will attend the press conference.
The participants plan to announce a declaration stating their intent to stop the distribution of anti-North Korea leaflets and appeal to other civilian organizations that distribute such leaflets to join them.
Choi Sung-ryong, the representative of the Family Assembly Abducted to North Korea, said, "The first event was held in Imjingak, and there has been much conflict here, so we are trying to tie up loose ends now," adding, "We will also discuss the issue of Japanese abduction victims alongside the halt of anti-North Korea leaflet distribution."
He further noted, "For a long time, families of abduction victims have waited for a resolution to this celestial issue, believing in the government, and I hope the Lee Jae-myung administration will resolve the celestial grievances through smooth communication and dialogue with the families."
