The Special Investigation Team announced on the 5th that it is conducting investigations starting with allegations of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant during the second face-to-face investigation of former President Yoon Suk-yeol.
Deputy Special Investigator Park Ji-young stated at a briefing that, "As far as I know, the investigation related to the obstruction of arrest is currently underway," and added, "I heard that the interrogation is proceeding smoothly as confirmed."
In the investigation room of former President Yoon, the Special Investigation Team included Deputy Special Investigators Park Eok-su and Jang Woo-seong, Senior Prosecutors Kim Jeong-gu and Jo Jae-cheol, Director General Park Chang-hwan of the Korean National Police Agency’s major crime investigation division, Prosecutor Gu Soon-ki, and Investigator Moon Hyung-seok.
Under the direction of Deputy Special Investigators Park Eok-su and Jang Woo-seong, Senior Prosecutors Kim Jeong-gu and Jo Jae-cheol are interrogating former President Yoon, with Director General Park Chang-hwan and Prosecutor Gu Soon-ki supporting the investigation, as noted by Deputy Special Investigator Park.
The side of former President Yoon raised objections to the investigation, citing that Director General Park Chang-hwan, who was accused of illegal arrest during the first investigation on the 28th of last month, was serving as the investigator of the obstruction of arrest allegations.
Deputy Special Investigator Park noted, "Considering the volume of investigation, the need for prompt progress, and overall efficiency in the investigation, we are proceeding in this manner after internal discussions."
