The special prosecutor team led by Lee Myung-hyun, investigating the death of a Marine Corps member, has requested that Lim Sung-keun, former commander of the 1st Marine Division, appear for questioning on July 2.
On the 30th, former commander Lim posted on the Naver cafe he manages, titled 'Records and Verification of the Chaesangbyeong Incident,' that he received a request from a special prosecutor investigator to appear at the special prosecutor's office by 2 p.m. on July 2.
Former commander Lim noted, “I have already submitted sufficient evidence to the police and prosecutors. However, since the investigative body has changed to the special prosecutor, I plan to resubmit the core evidence this time,” adding, “I will submit my previous mobile phone, which was returned by the CIO, and ask for it to be forensically examined again.” Former commander Lim has been under investigation by the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency and the Daegu District Prosecutor's Office for charges of negligent homicide related to the death of a Marine Corps member.
On that day, Special Prosecutor Jeong Min-young met with reporters at the Seocho Hansam Building in Seocho-gu, Seoul, stating, “Last week, we requested the transfer of records from the investigative agency, and today (30th), we expect the records related to former commander Lim Sung-keun's negligent homicide case from the Daegu District Prosecutor's Office to arrive at the special prosecutor team.” He added, “Records related to the allegations of pressure on the investigation from the CIO and abuse of power will also be transferred to the special prosecutor's office today.”
