From July 1, small and medium-sized enterprises with fewer than 50 employees that hire substitute workers for parental leave for the first time will be eligible for the 'substitute worker culture expansion support fund.' This will allow them to receive 2 million won in addition to the government’s monthly support of up to 1.2 million won per person.
On the 30th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor announced that it will begin disbursing the substitute worker culture expansion support fund starting July 1.
The substitute worker culture expansion support fund will be provided to corporations that hire substitute workers for parental leave for the first time and have fewer than 50 employees. The payment will be structured as 1 million won at the three-month and six-month marks after hiring.
This support fund will be financed by 10 billion won contributed by Shinhan Financial Group to the cooperation fund for large and small businesses. Considering that the fund supports each corporation that hires a substitute worker only once, a total of 5,000 corporations can benefit from it.
The first company to receive the support fund this time is 'Buwonsan Industry,' an auto parts company located in Yangsan, Gyeongnam. It became eligible for support by hiring a substitute for the first male employee to take parental leave within the company this year.
Applications for the substitute worker culture expansion support fund can be made through regional employment centers or Employment 24. It can be applied for alongside the parental leave substitute worker support fund offered by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Kwon Jin-ho, director of the Ministry of Employment and Labor's Integrated Employment Policy Bureau, said, 'We will continue to make various policy efforts to activate work and parental leave support systems in the future.'
