The legal team for former President Yoon Suk-yeol requested a change in the date of appearance in response to the special prosecutor team's demand that he attend a second face-to-face investigation at 9 a.m. on the 30th, stating, "Considering the defendant's health and the guarantee of the right to defense in the ongoing trial, the schedule is very tight."
Yoon's legal team issued a statement on the 29th, saying, "We have submitted a written request to change the date of appearance to the special prosecutor this afternoon."
The legal team argued, "The special prosecutor must thoroughly adhere to the principles of voluntary investigation and due process," adding, "The summoning of the defendant must also follow the principles of voluntary investigation, and there should be sufficient consultation with the defendant and the legal team regarding the summons." They noted, "Summoning again just two days after the investigation on the 28th is a very tight schedule considering the defendant's health and the guarantee of the right to defense in the currently ongoing trial."
The legal team also mentioned that the special prosecutor's demand for a second appearance was unilaterally communicated without prior consultation with the defendant or legal team, and was made public to the media, violating relevant regulations.
