Yoon Suk-yeol's side stated on the 28th regarding the investigation by the special prosecutor on insurrection, "The special prosecutor is running amok violating laws and proper procedures." Former President Yoon is attending the special prosecutor's office and has been under investigation since 10:14 a.m.
On that day, Yoon's legal team issued a statement asking, "Is a special prosecutor who runs amok violating laws and proper procedures really a legitimate authority?" They continued, "A special prosecutor is still just a prosecutor," adding that "when a prosecutorial agency requests a suspect to appear, it must ensure that the suspect's honor or privacy is not infringed upon, and that the timing and location of the investigation must be agreed upon in advance."
The legal team noted, "The prosecutorial agency should not unilaterally notify or disclose the scene of the appearance in a way that infringes upon the suspect's human rights," stating that "this is not merely a recommendation to the prosecutorial agency but a legal obligation assigned by law."
The legal team said that after the arrest warrant for Yoon was dismissed, the special prosecutor unilaterally disclosed the appearance time to the media without prior consultation with the defense, and is forcing a public summons similar to the photo line abolished under the administration of Moon Jae-in. They added, "Despite the defense requesting coordination of the date and time per the law, the special prosecutor rejected it, merely reducing the issue to entering an underground parking lot, causing nationwide fatigue." They also emphasized, "As a former president who prioritized upholding the rule of law, Yoon wants to clearly point out the special prosecutor's procedural violations and breaches of legal obligations, as well as attempts to manipulate the investigation."
However, the legal team stated, "We will cooperate with today's investigation so that procedural disputes do not obstruct the truth from being revealed."
Yoon attended the special prosecutor on insurrection at 9:55 a.m. that day. His side had initially stated they would appear privately through the underground parking lot at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, but in reality, they entered through the ground entrance of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office. This was because the insurrection special prosecutor's team did not allow private appearances. The investigation began at 10:14 a.m.
