A man in his 30s, suspected of driving under the influence in Busan, fled after causing a collision and subsequently crashed into three other vehicles, injuring seven people.
The Busan Gangseo Police Station stated on the 28th that they have detained and are investigating an individual identified as A for the alleged crime of fleeing after causing injury under the Serious Crime Punishment Act.
According to the police, A hit the rear of a passenger car while driving his SUV at about 11:30 p.m. the previous day at the intersection of Sinhang-ibgu in Songjeong-dong, Gangseo District, Busan, and then immediately fled, colliding with two more passenger vehicles. After crossing the center line and driving against traffic, he collided with an oncoming taxi and then stopped.
As a result of this accident, seven people, including A, sustained minor injuries. A was arrested at the scene by responding police officers. A police official noted, "A's drunk driving is suspected, and a blood test was conducted while a seizure warrant was requested for this matter." The police are also investigating the exact cause of the accident through vehicle black boxes and other means.
