Six Americans were caught by police while trying to send rice and Bibles in plastic bottles toward the North from the coast of Ganghwa Island in Incheon.

The Incheon Ganghwa Police Station stated on the 27th that they are investigating six Americans, including a person surnamed A, on suspicion of violating the Basic Disaster and Safety Management Act.

They were caught at about 1:06 a.m. near Mangwol Dondae in Hajum-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, while attempting to float about 1,300 plastic bottles containing rice, $1 bills, and Bibles into the sea, detected by the coastal surveillance of a nearby military unit.

The area has been designated as a 'danger zone' since November last year, and an administrative order prohibiting the distribution of leaflets toward the North is currently in effect.

A police official said, "The person surnamed A and others do not speak Korean well, so we plan to investigate the specific circumstances of the crime through an interpreter."
