Oh Young-jun, a Senior Judge of the Seoul High Court, nominated as a candidate for the Constitutional Court on the 26th, is from the progressive judge group called the Our Law Research Society within the court. He was nominated for the Constitutional Court after 31 years of judicial service.
Candidate Oh Young-jun, originally from Daejeon, graduated from Seoul High School and the Department of Judicial Studies at Seoul National University. He passed the 33rd Judicial Examination and graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute as part of the 23rd class. Starting his career in 1994 as a judge at the Seoul Civil Court, he served as a judge at the Jeonju District Court Gunsan Branch, a judge at the Uijeongbu Branch of the Seoul District Court, the Chief Judge of the Gangneung Branch of the Chuncheon District Court, and a Senior Judge at the Patent Court. He is currently serving as a Director General at the Seoul High Court.
In particular, Candidate Oh has served as a research judge at the Supreme Court, a senior research judge, and a chief research judge. He has also participated in the Civil Case Law Research Society, an elite judge research group within the court.
Candidate Oh has been nominated for the Supreme Court Justice position twice. He was included in the nominations during the first Supreme Court Justice appointments of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration in 2022 and the 2024 Supreme Court Justice appointments. His spouse is Kim Min-gi, a judge at the Suwon High Court.
