This weekend, rain is expected in most areas across the country. The metropolitan area and the western region of Gangwon will continue to see rain from the weekend into early next week. In areas where the rain stops next week, a sweltering heat with a feel-like temperature of over 33 degrees is expected to arrive.

The Korea Meteorological Administration noted during a regular briefing on the 26th that "the stagnant front, which has weakened for some time, will gradually reactivate from the interior of China by Saturday, the 28th," and added that "rain is expected in most areas across the country."

On Saturday, the 28th, when nationwide rain is forecasted, the expected precipitation amounts are 5 to 40 mm in the central region and 5 to 60 mm in the southern region. Particularly, in the southern region, strong showers accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur from the afternoon to the evening. On Sunday, the 29th, rain is expected to focus on the metropolitan area, western Gangwon, and northern Chungcheong.

Starting next Monday, the 30th, most areas nationwide will be under the influence of high pressure, leading to clearer weather. However, during this period, the metropolitan area and western Gangwon will still be affected by the stagnant front, resulting in continued rain.

Next week, the heat wave is expected to take hold. The Korea Meteorological Administration said, "With the influx of southwestern winds, there is a high possibility that the feel-like temperature will rise above 33 degrees from Saturday, especially in the southern region," and added, "There is a possibility of a heat wave warning being issued, so please pay special attention to heat-related illnesses and outdoor activities." A heat wave warning is issued when the actual highest feel-like temperature exceeds 33 degrees for more than two days.

In eastern areas such as the eastern coast of Gangwon, tropical nights may occur. A tropical night refers to a situation where the lowest temperature overnight is above 25 degrees, making it difficult to sleep properly due to the heat.

Meanwhile, the Korea Meteorological Administration explained that the pressure system in early July could change significantly depending on the occurrence of tropical disturbances, which are the "seeds of typhoons." The Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "There is also a possibility that the tropical disturbance could develop into a typhoon, making the medium-term pressure outlook highly variable," and advised, "Please keep checking the latest weather information as the location and areas of precipitation related to the stagnant front may change."
