Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok, who is investigating former President Yoon Suk-yeol for insurrection and foreign exchange allegations, stated on the 26th, "I have requested that the prosecution, police, and the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) refer cases that fall under Article 2 of the Special Prosecutor Act to us."

The insurrection special prosecution law specifies 11 cases related to former President Yoon's insurrection, foreign exchange acquisition, and military rebellion in connection with the Dec. 3 emergency martial law.

Additionally, according to the legal community on the same day, the CIO is said to have decided to transfer a case filed by the civic group Judicial Justice Restoration Citizens' Movement (JJRCM), which reported District Court Chief Judge Jae-Gwi Yeon of the Seoul Central District Court for canceling the arrest of former President Yoon and for failing to immediately appeal the court's decision to revoke the arrest by Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung.

In response, the insurrection special prosecution noted, "Whether a specific case falls under the category of prosecutable crimes is determined by the judgment of each investigative agency," adding, "We did not request the transfer of a specific case."
