The K-pop-themed animation 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' has claimed the top spot in the Netflix global movie rankings for four consecutive days, proving its worldwide popularity.
According to FlixPatrol, an online video service (OTT) content ranking site, as of the 24th, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' ranked first in the Netflix movie category in 41 countries including Korea, the United States, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Portugal.
Released on the 20th, this work has maintained its position at number one in the worldwide movie institutional sector from the 21st to the 24th for four consecutive days. It continues to climb the rankings, reaching 17 countries on the first day, 26 countries on the 22nd, 31 countries on the 23rd, and 41 countries on the 24th.
'K-Pop Demon Hunters' is an action fantasy animation depicting a popular girl group consisting of K-pop stars Lumi, Mira, and Joy, who secretly act as demon hunters hunting demons outside of the stage. The story unfolds under the shocking premise that a newly debuted boy group is actually a group of demons.
The production is handled by Sony Pictures Animation, and the direction is jointly led by Chris Appelhanz, known for the movie 'Hotel Transylvania,' and Canadian director of Korean descent Maggie Kang. It is known that Director Maggie Kang was born in Seoul and grew up in Toronto, enjoying the songs of first-generation idols Seo Taiji and H.O.T. during her childhood.
