Korea’s 국민대학교 has begun the process of canceling the doctoral degree of Kim Keon-hee, the wife of former President Yoon Suk-yeol.

On the 24th, Korea’s 국민대학교 announced that it had started the process of nullifying the admission to the doctoral program and canceling the doctoral degree based on the decision by 숙명여자대학교 to revoke Kim Keon-hee's master's degree.

Korea’s 국민대학교 explained, “The higher education law defines that the admission qualifications for the doctoral program are those who hold a master’s degree, and if the master’s degree submitted at the time of admission to the doctoral program is revoked, the admission to the doctoral program loses its qualification requirements.”

Korea’s 국민대학교 plans to proceed with the doctoral degree cancellation process by securing the consent of Kim Keon-hee, sending official documents to 숙명여자대학교 for fact verification, and requesting information disclosure and inquiries to relevant institutions.

Additionally, a committee will be formed to address the cancellation of the doctoral degree and to have it reviewed and decided by the graduate school committee.

Kim Keon-hee received her doctoral degree in 2008 from Korea’s 국민대학교 테크노디자인전문대학원 with a thesis titled "Research on the development of fortune content using avatars: Focusing on the development and market application of 'Anita.'"
