Suga of the group BTS has donated 5 billion won to build the 'Min Yoongi Treatment Center' for children with autism spectrum disorder, and donations from the fandom 'ARMY' are also continuing.
Severance Hospital announced that as of 9 a.m. on the 24th, donations from the public for the Min Yoongi Treatment Center have exceeded 200 million won. This is the result just one day after the news of Suga's donation was reported.
The day before, Severance Hospital held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Min Yoongi Treatment Center on the first floor of the hospital's main building. The center is expected to be completed in September and plans to operate programs linking clinical services and research, including language, psychological, and behavioral therapies, to support the mental health of children and adolescents.
Suga has gone beyond mere donations, collaborating with Professor Cheon Geun-ah of Severance Hospital for about seven months to develop a music-based therapy program and has been directly interacting with children with autism spectrum disorder.
Following the news of the donation, inquiries from fans and the general public flooded into the External Cooperation Office at Yonsei Medical Center, and the hospital has added 'Min Yoongi Treatment Center' as a recurring donation item on its website. By around 3:30 p.m. that day, the donation amount surpassed 100 million won and has now exceeded 200 million won.
On social media, posts from fans both domestic and international asking about ways to support are ongoing, and if an overseas remittance channel is established, the donation amount is expected to increase further.
