The eighth trial of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, who is accused of being the mastermind behind a coup, began at 10:15 a.m. on the 23rd in the Criminal Division 25 of the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Director General Ji Kwi-yeon. Former President Yoon entered the courtroom without responding to reporters' questions.

Former President Yoon arrived by car at the west building of the Seoul Central District Court around 10:02 a.m. and walked to the courtroom. The court has not allowed access from the underground entrance since the third trial, so former President Yoon passed by the photo line.

However, former President Yoon did not answer reporters' questions such as, 'Is there any position to take at the first trial with the special prosecutor for rebellion present?' and 'You are refusing to attend the police directly, but will you respond to the special prosecutor's summons?'

Previously, during a trial on the 16th, former President Yoon entered and exited the courthouse a total of four times but did not answer any questions from reporters.

The special prosecutor team for rebellion, led by Jo Eun-seok, will also attend the trial. This will be the team's first appearance in court since receiving the case from the prosecution on the 19th.

However, special prosecutor Park Eok-soo will attend the trial instead of special prosecutor Jo. It has been reported that special prosecutor Jo will not attend the trial in person.

Meanwhile, the trial will continue with the testimony of Lee Jae-sik, former Deputy Chief of Staff for Joint Chiefs of Staff Inspection, following the previous court session. The testimony of Colonel Kwon Young-hwan, who was the chief of the joint chiefs of staff during the emergency martial law, is also expected to follow.
