According to the legal community on the 22nd, Judge Han So-hee of the Suwon District Court's Criminal Division 10 sentenced Mr. A (25) to one year in prison for charges of special injury and special confinement.

Mr. A was charged with confining and assaulting a teenage victim with an intellectual disability from the evening of June 26, 2022, until the early hours of the 27th.

It was revealed that Mr. A stopped the car on the shoulder of the highway heading from Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, to Wonju, Gangwon Province, and repeatedly hit the victim, who was sitting in the back seat, with a blunt object and his fists. After arriving in Wonju, he is also accused of assaulting the victim for about an hour by putting a dog leash around their neck.

Mr. A was found to have committed the crime believing that he broke up with his girlfriend because of the victim.

The court stated, "The act of exploiting the victim's somewhat naive nature to vent his anger by using dangerous tools to assault and strangling the victim with a dog leash, while confining them in the vehicle and assaulting them multiple times, is of very poor quality." It added, "Mr. A was already on probation for a special injury offense and had not received forgiveness from the victim."
